SUGAR--My Power of Recognition

Hi! The book, 'O Great One', inspired me to create a school wide Recognition program of my own--SUGAR! After reading the book by David Novak, I was so moved, and I knew the atmosphere at my school (where I am a fifth grade teacher) could be more uplifting and appreciative of others. I was full of enthusiasm and excitement as I shared the book with my principal. He suggested I present my idea to the staff--my very own (unofficial) TED Talk. Giving a TED Talk has always, and remains to be, a dream of mine, so I went for it! With the book and a jar of sugar in hand, I delivered my idea. SUGAR: Spontaneous, Uplifting, Grateful, Authentic Recognition, is what I am hoping our school can adopt as our own Power of Recognition. It is in the beginning stages, but I know it has impacted a few, and I am hopeful it will continue to grow--a 'sugar cube' effect, if you will : )
