Brenda Made Me Strong

I found my OGO in the gym! In 2011, I walked into a fitness facility out of shape and out of confidence. When I signed-up, I was given one free personal training session and randomly paired with a trainer named Brenda Gabbard. Little did I know 5 years later, she would be my OGO!

In the beginning, I would work out but didn’t really have the dedication I needed to get fit. Once I got engaged, it was time to get serious. Nothing like the thought of buying a wedding dress to motivate you.

Brenda was there throughout my engagement encouraging me and guiding me. Through the hard work we both put in, I was able to lose 60 lbs. before the big day! More importantly, I’ve stuck with her and my lifestyle change so I have been able to keep it off.

In the process of my fitness journey, I lost weight and got stronger, which is important for my physical health. However, I also learned that if you work hard enough at something you will see results, and I found a friend who I respect and admire.

Today, Brenda now has her own studio, The Body Project, where she is inspiring people of all shapes and sizes to be their best self. I see her help clients gain confidence and inner-strength. Besides squatting and bicep curls, there is laughter, camaraderie, and positivity. Who knew exercise could be so fun and empowering?
